As the pressed oil is processed in a step-by-step fashion (filtration, degumming, bleaching, deodorization), it has to be stored between these steps. Because long-term storage of crude oil is not recommended (the solids would sediment), filtration is usually done immediately after pressing with only a short storage period in the homogenization tank.
Each technological step (filtration, degumming, bleaching, deodorization) contains a pump, which also serves for transporting the oil into temporary storage. The following step then always contains an intake pump (usually a volume-regulated one, which maintains a regulated intake of oil into the process).
Storage capacity is always optimized in accordance with the customer’s wishes and requirements. The container provides enough storage for the scale of trade purposes or follow-up oil processing technologies. In the case of storing before a following technological step, its capacity takes into account potential interruptions of operation of the following step. The container is always designed to be capable of holding a capacity of at least one-day production of the preceding technological step.
For smaller storage capacities up to about 100 m3 we provide vertical cylindrical tanks with a diameter of 2.5 m (convenient for trucks) and an effective volume of 20 m3. For capacities between 100 m3 and 1,000 m3, we offer horizontal cylindrical containers with a diameter of 2.5 m (convenient for trucks) and an effective volume of 50 m3. If a higher number of tanks is used, one can be placed on the top of another. Tank surfaces, valves, fixtures and other components of the storage container are always made from materials of excellent durability and stability, suitable for food industry.
For large storage volumes (above 1,000 m3) we suggest building containers/storage rooms directly at the premises. Such solutions require working out a complex project in cooperation with the project consultant.
The dispatch container is optimized according to the means and regularity of distribution and placement of mobile tanks and the time it takes to fill them up (variable performance of the output pump).
The entry of oil into the tank is directed from the bottom. This solution significantly reduces oxidation and potential foaming of oil, compared to influx from the top, where the falling oil is oxidized and foams at the surface. The inlet is regulated by a remotely controlled valve, which allows operators to choose where the oil should flow. The outlet is placed always at the lowest point of the tank, which therefore does not need any other drainage outlet. If the oil turnover is steady, without extensive interruptions, desludging of the sediment is not necessary.
