Granulation of hulls

The company Farmet offers technology for granulation of oilseed hulls, mainly sunflower. Its aim is to obtain pellets that can be stored and transported efficiently and may serve as a valuable biofuel with a high calorific value.

Pellets from sunflower seed hulls are a great, environmentally friendly fuel with a calorific value of ca. 5 kWh/kg, which is more than, for example, wood pellets or hay pellets (both ranging around 4 – 4.4 kWh/kg). The higher value of sunflower hulls is caused by the residual oil and wax.

Technology Description

The granulation (pelleting) technology serves for a re-processing of sunflower seed hulls (or soybean hulls) into a granular (pellet) shape, which is more convenient from the perspectives of subsequent handling, storing, and usage of the hulls. The entire technology is equipped with automatic control and regulation with process visualization capability.

The basic components are the granulators, which cover a broad range of performances. The line also contains an input container, dosing conveyor, mixing conveyor, water/steam dosing, (the granulators themselves), the separator and recycling for fines, pellet cooler, and the corresponding transport paths including wiring.

We recommend choosing this technology as a complement to the oilseed processing OPTION Dehulling and separation of hulls, for both cold and hot pressing.

Accessories

The technology can be delivered separately or as an OPTION Granulation of hulls within the delivery of the pressing technology. Extending the technological potential and quality of pellet processing is possible with further optional accessories (OPTIONS) – hull grinding, hull moistening. The selection of appropriate OPTIONS depends on the individual requirements and conditions pertaining to each client, as well as on the quality and type of processed material.

Technical Parameters

The capacity of Granulation of hulls for oilseeds (sunflower, soya) ranges between 1.2 and 70 tons per day.
