Farmet a.s. has become a new member of Danube Soya, an association of growers, processors and producers of soya and soybean products. This organization emerged as a support platform for soybean cultivation in the Danube region, which encompasses the countries Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria. The association also extends beyond the region via companies from the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Moldavia, and Ukraine. In many of these places, Danube Soya maintains offices and actively participates in events such as field days, seminars or workshops. The association itself also organizes an international meeting for its members and partners. Its principal aim is to support GM-free soybean in Europe, thus reducing the overwhelming dependence on imported, genetically modified American soybean and soybean meal. Through support for local producers, the association strives for self-sufficiency of European countries. Another idea put forward by Danube Soya is that any field suitable for maize (corn) production can be easily utilized for soybean cultivation as well.

The main benefit of Farmet’s membership is the association’s philosophy of local production: Farmet is the only member that offers a technology for soybean processing directly aimed at local producers. So far, these growers have been limited to selling raw soybean; now they will have easier access to selling value-added products, such as soybean extrudate and oil. Currently we are actively negotiating with several potential clients, motivated through the Danube Soya program. We believe that this partnership can link us with many promising clients from all around Central Europe.
