Falcon 6 Strip Sows Oil Seed Rape Straight into the Stubble Field!

This year, the farming cooperative of ZOD Žichlínek used a new technology for sowing oil seed rape: the modular Falcon 6 PRO seed drill, with exchangeable pre-processing sections. The co-op chose to use the front three-row chisel section with a chisel distance of 25 cm, and the rear drill coulter arrangement with a 25 cm spacing to place the seeds precisely into the chisel-loosened strips of soil. In this way, it is possible to cultivate soil in a quality way and seed both into shallow stubble ploughing and straight into the stubble field. In addition to sowing into the stubble ploughing, the Žichlínek co-op also seeded a large portion of the oil seed rape straight into the stubble field. The quality soil and well-cut stubble field allowed for that and the established crop was of a high quality.

The zone loosening by the front chisel section of Falcon 6 PRO worked at around 16 cm. The narrow chisels with a relatively low tensile resistance make it possible to work at a speed of 12 – 13 km/h without the risk of clod and unevenness formation. With regard to the drought, this technology is highly beneficial as it does not dry out soil with preceding processing, thus preserving moisture that is already scarce in the soil. Moreover, the machine saves at least 1 or 2 passes using cultivators. The technology of seeding oil seed rape using the deep zone chisel loosening straight in the stubble field is becoming very popular thanks to the facts above and farms that own suitable machines, such as modular Falcon PRO, use this technology. Similarly, shallow stubble ploughing seeding has also become the standard in many businesses. And these technologies increase the crop of the oil seed rape when compared with conventional technologies.

For seeding cereal, the Žichlínek co-op is planning to use a configuration of modular Falcon PRO with the front two-row disc section and the rear drill coulters with a spacing of 12.5 cm. After seeding the oil seed rape, Falcon PRO can be easily changed to the other variant thanks to the quick-change system of the sections. The configuration above offers a quality shallow all-area seedbed preparation while sowing, with a low tensile resistance and a high daily output. The high pressure of the drill coulters with vibration absorption allows the set to work at a speed of 15 – 18 km/h while providing a very high quality of seed placement. This corresponds with the daily output of 60 to 100 ha for a 6-meter-wide machine and that is truly high productivity!
