Three ways to apply fertilisers while sowing

Application of fertilisers to a depth of 6 - 8 cm between rows

Specially when sowing cereals, but also for most other crops, it is advantageous to apply fertilizers to a depth of 6 - 8 cm using single-disc coulter application. These single-disc coulters are arranged so that they always deposit the fertiliser between two rows to a depth of approx. 3 - 4 cm under the seed. The advantage of this solution is low tractor tensile and the possibility of relatively large doses of fertilizers up to 300 kg / ha for nutrition during the vegetation. Fertilizers with a low nitrogen content are specially recommended. The roots reach the placed fertiliser only at a certain developmental phase of the plant and can use nutrients during the all time of vegetation.

Application of fertilisers to a depth of 10 - 20 cm between rows or under rows

Fertilizer application between rows or under rows.

This fertilisation system can be easily used after replacing the front pre-processing section from discs to chisels. Narrow chisels in three rows place the fertiliser to a depth of 10 - 20 cm either between two rows or directly under the seed rows. The possibility to place the fertilizer under even seed rows is ensured by the system for displacement of the rear sowing section by ½ row spacing. Sowing only with even seed coulters with fertilizer placement under the rows is advantageous, for example, for rape seeds or legumes, which at the same time appreciate the deep loosening of the root zone during sowing. For cereals is more advantageous chisel loosening between rows with fertiliser placement to a depth of 10 - 15 cm. Doses of fertilisers can also reach up to 300 kg / ha for nutrition during the growing season. Thanks to the greater depth of fertilizer placement, the system is also advantageous for fertilizers with a higher nitrogen content. With a greater depth of fertiliser deposition, higher nitrogen concentrations will not affect root development and they will start to use nutrients from the fertiliser only in a fully developed phase. A well-developed root system improves plant condition during periods of lack of precipitation and increases yield stability.

Application of fertilisers directly to the seed

Falcon disc seed drills with overpressure metering system, the fertiliser can be applied directly to the seed and place it together in the soil. This system is advantageous for the application of starter combine fertilisers. Effective doses of these fertilisers are about 25 to 100 kg / ha. In these doses, it ensures a fast start of plant growth, better competitiveness against weeds and greater resistance to diseases and pests in the early phases of vegetation. However, this fertilisation system must be combined with other conventional fertilisers to ensure adequate plant nutrition during the vegetation. Otherwise, the grain yield can be reduced compared to other fertilisation methods.

Falcon Tandem coulter seeders, granular fertilisers can be applied to the seed in larger doses thanks to the placement of the seed and fertiliser in wide strips. Thanks to the full-area placement, fertiliser doses of up to 200 kg / ha can be applied with no negative impact on seed germination or subsequent growth. Thus, it is possible to provide nutrition for a larger part of the vegetation and with the use of slow-acting fertilizers types, complete plant nutrition can be covered for the whole vegetation season.
