Farmet STRIP-TILL

The technology of strip-till is experiencing a revival, namely due to the growing pressure on the application of anti-erosion technologies and strip-till has a significant anti-erosion effect. The main advantages include soil processing by deep loosening in a strip up to the depth of 35 cm with the option to apply fertilizer into the root zone. Plant residues are placed in the inter-row which not only eliminates erosion processes, but also unproductive evaporating.

Innovation in Strip-Till

The technology of strip-till is experiencing a revival, namely due to the growing pressure on the application of anti-erosion technologies and strip-till has a significant anti-erosion effect. The main advantages include soil processing by deep loosening in a strip up to the depth of 35 cm with the option to apply fertilizer into the root zone.  The traditional strip-till system comes from America. Farmet STRIP-TILL is designed for European conditions. The main difference is in the use of a fixed frame and double rear spiked rollers. The fixed frame provides a simpler, more solid and lighter construction of the machine and also makes the design cheaper. The soil conditions in Europe do not require placing each unit separately on a parallelogram because the fields are quite even and individual tracing for each unit is not required.

The main feature of the machine is the strip-till system. It is based on quite a large trapezoidal ploughshare that “gathers” a strip of soil, lifts it up and loosens it partially. The double spiked rollers then provide further loosening. It is a solution that works in European conditions when strip-till is done in October and November and the soil is already moist and sticky. At the same time, this system does not create a deeper tight channel that would not let water through.

Strip-till can be done during a long time period: from the beginning of autumn until continuous ice cover, or spring before sowing. The Farmet STRIP-TILL system provides a good tearing of the loosened soil strip that does not tighten but stays porous at the bottom and absorbs rainwater well. Farmet STRIP-TILL can also manage strip-till in spring when the soil is wet on the bottom and tends to make clods. The spiked rollers crush the clods and compact the loosened strip.

The portfolio now includes working width of 6 and 8 rows with the standard distance of 75 cm, or 70 cm on request.
