Which discs to choose for Softer?

26. 8. 2020
It is not an easy question. Discs are the basic working body for disc stubble cultivators and their shape has an important effect on the quality of the machine's work. Farmet has expanded its range of discs for the popular Softer stubble cultivator.
Which discs to choose for Softer?

All discs are all around sharpened by machining including cut-outs. Great blade significantly contributes to the penetration of the machine into the soil, especially in extreme conditions of heavy and hard dry soils. Only very well penetrated stubble cultivator can ensure a quality stubble cultivating with full-area stubble undercut.

The basic decision when buying a machine is the size (diameter of the discs). Softer allows the choice of disc diameter 510 mm or 560 mm. The advantage of smaller discs is greater frame clearence, better penetration into the soil and higher rotation of the discs, and thus better cutting and levelling. On the other hand larger discs have a longer life. 60 % of customers choose discs with a diameter of 510 mm.

The second parameter is the shape of the blade. The most common and most used discs are notched discs, both with a diameter of 510 mm and 560 mm.

At the request of customers Farmet has expanded its range of discs for the Softer stubble cultivator with new disc shapes with a diameter of 510 mm intended for shallow stubble cultivators with full-area undercut.
