Terrix DUAL after harvesting energy rye

The new 4-row chisel cultivator Terrix DUAL did a very good job in the energy rye stubble.

For the first time, we had an opportunity to try the new 4-row chisel cultivator Terrix DUAL in the tricky conditions of field processing after a fresh harvest of energy rye. Everybody knows that beaten rye may cause trouble because it is long and tough. The growth was harvested at milk maturity for a biogas station. It was locally even beaten. However, Terrix DUAL did a great job.

Terrix DUAL processes soil on the principle of gradual processing and simultaneously the combination of full-area soil processing (by undercutting) and depth zonal cultivating. The shares and chisels have a tandem arrangement. The first tandem row was fitted with winged shares, which undercut the full area of the stubble to the depth of 10 cm and integrated the plant residues into the surface layer. The second tandem row was fitted with chisels for zonal cultivation of the soil in the same line, in our case to the depth of 15 cm. The streamlining discs behind each tandem secured the lateral straightening and crumbling of the material.

Because the soil processing was only to the depth of 15 cm, the field was ready for sowing maize and the plant residues were integrated to a large extent at a low fuel consumption. The excellent passing capability of the machine due to the long structure and the optimum layout of the working bodies was confirmed. The Terrix machines seem to be an ideal alternative for ploughing. They especially excel in heavier soils with large quantities of plant residues.
